More Changes

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

I just changed the header image with a photo of my DVD shelf. It’s not the best photo (lotsa noise because my room is dark), but it’s just a test, after all. And, seeing it in the context of my blog… I don’t think it works – it’s too busy. Anyway, it’s been fun messing with the image in Photoshop.

That will do for now until I take a more suitable picture. Definitely outdoors, in broad daylight.

In other news, I just realized I’d have to hack into the photo album plugin page templates myself in order to make the gallery section look just as I want it to. Gonna dig into some serious code work, and I’m not exactly looking forward to it.

EOD Report: Day 3

selfSo it’s been three days since I started working on this blog, and so far so good. Today I modified some code to suit my needs, and installed a couple of plugins: the Spam Karma 2.0 comment spam filter, and the Flickr photo album plugin for Wordpress. The image seen here proves that one of the latter plugin’s functions does indeed work! Nice.

Argh! As I was editing this entry I came upon a bug within the LJ Crossposter plugin. I had to uninstall it for now and work on using a more recent version tomorrow.

Also for tomorrow: finding the right look for my gallery page.

Sleepless

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

Just some quick notes before I go to sleep. I just spent most part of the last 24 hours customizing this site – that includes not getting any sleep! So, save for around a total of one or two hours of intermittent siestas, I’ve been awake since last night.  And since last night things have changed in here (look, nice Flickr badge!).  Some changes, though, have been subtle and non-cosmetic; for instance, the continuous addition (and removal, depending on the test results) of plugins.  What’s more, with my obsessive-compulsive mode kicking in, i needed to make every aspect of any change exactly as I want it.

I have a lot more modifications I have in mind, but I guess that would have to wait until tomorrow.  Need time to think them over and not overdo things. The last thing I want is to clutter up this blog.

It’s been fun customizing, that’s for sure, and some part of my mind keeps urging me to go on still even until now.  I would have to ignore that for now and get some very much needed sleep.

All Aboard!

Ah, the nth incarnation of glibberish.org has begun.  Because this web space was previously underutilized, and my original plan of having friends contribute stuff here did not really materialize (for the reason that all my friends are too busy), I have decided to just make this my own “creativity blog”.

In this blog I intend to post the following:

  1. Music works I have done throughout the years, and in the days to come.  Also includes song tracks that I had a significant hand in making (e.g. recorded on my home studio, mixed in my Digital Audio Workstation).  This will probably not be updated very often because I tend to procrastinate.
  2. Photos that I took which I particularly like.  To be honest, a huge chunk of my motivation to create this blog is because I recently got a nice camera and I am expecting to use it a lot.  What’s the use of pictures if you can’t share them with others, right?  Okay, maybe I just like to show off (well, mostly to myself).
  3. Thoughts about movies I have watched.  I am a movie buff, and although I do not write movie reviews that good I used to have a blog dedicated for this purpose.  Now that said film blog is long offline I think I will just use this one as a replacement.
  4. Thoughts about books I have read and albums I have listened to.  More or less in the same vein as #3.
  5. Other art-related reviews.
  6. Personal matters? Nah, I already have another blog for that. (Will not be disclosed here.)

At least that’s the plan.  Things might change in time.  As much as possible I’d like to keep within the confines of the above subjects. I’d like to make this blog my organized one, as opposed to my whatever-goes other.

Well, not that anyone’s tuning in.  It’s all plain self-centered self-gratification, I tell ya.  And the first order of this narcissistic gesture: customization.  Back to work!
