Lens Frenzy
For the life of me, I cannot decide on what my next lens should be.
As already mentioned, I got my 50mm about a week ago. It takes really great pictures, and I’m really impressed with it. However, the focal length is too long when used indoors at small venues – you mostly just get to take portraits. So, I figured I need a zoom lens that can go wide.
Or do I?
Another option that comes to mind is to purely use primes. For one, they are compact and light, especially those spec’d for my needs (mostly low-light shooting). Maybe I should get a 30mm or 35mm for use indoors, then the 50mm (and maybe a future 85mm, drool) for outdoor / walkaround use. Maybe, maybe, maybe.
So why not just one zoom lens to cover the range I need? That answer is very easy: the quality of images you get from primes is ASTOUNDING. I mean it.
Alas, what have I gotten myself into.
