Thursday, November 16th, 2006

Here are another bunch of pictures weeded out of tons more pictures from my USA trip. Note that these are not representative of my experience there; these are merely my favorites.

Last Full Show @ Saguijo

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Haven’t been in a Last Full Show production for the longest time, so I decided to go and watch this one (October 19). There were five bands, but the gig ended really late. Many friends came, too. I also missed Itchyworms, so seeing them again is a welcome show.

And as usual, I took pictures. It’s hard to find the right balance between exposure and fast enough shutter speed, but I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. Primes rule!

Rockin’ the Suburbs

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

It’s 12:29AM here in Bakersfield, California! Nice weather, nice place (although it looks a bit.. uneventful). Got a new camera: the Canon Digital Rebel XTi. At last, my penultimate SLR body! (for now). I already took a few shots around the house, and am so far very satisfied with the results. I can’t wait to go out and shoot more.

Macro Fun

Monday, October 9th, 2006

I recently acquired a macro lens coupler for cheap (PhP280). What it does is it lets you connect two lenses together through their filter threads. That means, one of the lenses is mounted in reverse. I don’t know how it works, but the effect is you get to focus really close to the subject, achieving macro magnification and range.

I took some shots using my dad’s old 75-300mm (AF doesn’t work on the digital EOSes anymore), and the 50mm f/1.8 connected to it in reverse. Magnification is astounding, which means focusing is real hard, and it’s impossible to get a sharp picture by pure handheld.

Stormy Day Special

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

A great storm dropped by our district last week, which caused a lot of uprooted trees and fallen billboards – and a four-day long power outage. Those four days were hell. No power means no Internet, no DVDs, no games, no anything!

But anyway, during the first two days of the ordeal I went and took some pictures (mostly out of boredom). Just posting some of the better results here.
